Eligibility Criteria - Indian Market Baseline

Applicant

  • Resident Indian for standard domestic product; NRI has a separate policy.
  • Salaried or self-employed.
  • Minimum age can start at 18 or 21 depending on lender.
  • HDFC's current public product page shows 18-70 at loan maturity; other lenders may use narrower bands such as 21-65.
  • Stable/verifiable income and adequate repayment capacity.

Credit

  • Good bureau history.
  • 700+ is a useful baseline; 750+ generally strengthens approval/pricing, but not every lender publishes a hard minimum.
  • Existing EMIs/FOIR and credit-card obligations affect eligibility.

Employment / business

Salaried

  • Stable employment; some lender programs cite around 2 years total experience and a minimum period with current employer.

Self-employed

  • Stable business/profession, commonly 2-3 years or more.

Property

  • Property/project must be acceptable to lender.
  • Clear legal title and approved building/layout.
  • Technical valuation must be satisfactory.
  • Purchase price, market value, borrower contribution and lender LTV determine maximum funding.
  • All property co-owners are commonly required to join as co-applicants.
  • Co-applicant income can improve eligibility where lender policy permits.
