Eligibility Criteria

See the basic conditions normally checked before you can apply.

Eligibility / Criteria - Indian Market Baseline
  • Resident Indian for standard domestic cards, unless NRI card product explicitly allows otherwise.
  • Primary applicant age commonly starts at 21 years.
  • Maximum age varies significantly by issuer/product:
  • many bank cards use around 60 for salaried and 65 for self-employed;
  • some issuers/products extend to around 70.
  • Salaried or self-employed with a regular verifiable income, unless it is a secured/FD-backed card.
  • Card must be available in applicant's sourcing/serviceable location.
  • Valid PAN and KYC.
  • Credit bureau/score and repayment history are normally checked.
  • Existing card limits, utilisation, overdue history, EMI obligations and recent credit enquiries can affect approval.
  • Income threshold is card-specific. Do not hard-code one universal income value.
  • For a broad unsecured-card prescreen, a bureau score around 700+ is a useful preference, but the issuer's internal scorecard is final.
  • Secured credit cards against FD can use different income/credit-score criteria.
